I know who you are now, so does everyone else

I did not ask for your pity—for pity is hollow. What I sought was your hand in helping me rise from a dire circumstance. Had you no intention of offering that, honesty would have sufficed. Instead, you chose to use me, to diminish me, and to treat me in ways both unjust and indefensible.

I remember, too, how you once appealed to your former employer’s pity, so they will take you back after your dismissal. You claimed you were above such things—yet clearly, you were not.

And now, I will speak. You believed I had no voice—but silence does not mean absence, and dismissal does not mean defeat.

Every action ripples beyond its moment, and no cruelty escapes the judgment of time. Judge me only after you have faced your own reflection. I imagine you have many mirrors, for they are a narcissist’s only true companions. You may twist words, but you cannot twist the truth. You may hide behind petty excuses, but you cannot escape the weight of consequence.

I sought no pity—only assistance and compassion. I asked for nothing more than what you had both the ability and, by your own words, the willingness to provide. If you intended to deny me that, you should have spoken the truth from the outset, so that I would carry no false expectations. Yet you did not even grant me that dignity, and still you invoke the word ‘pity’.

Worse still, you lacked both the decency and the courage to tell me directly that you no longer had the will to stand with me. Instead, you resorted to deceit. You had no hesitation, however, in speaking of me disparagingly behind my back.

As for your so-called accomplishments, I know them well. Even in my most difficult moments, it was never your pity I sought; and had I desired pity, I would not have looked to you—for one must possess strength, not weakness, to offer it with meaning.
